Commercial images

[edit]

Hi, everyone. Let's discuss the images of the Gaultier store, the table setting at La Palme d'Or, and the Hotel Martinez. Are they sufficiently iconic or interesting to withstand the test for commercial images?

My feeling is that the photo of the Hotel Martinez is pretty and evocative, but its listing is a bit touty ("well-appointed rooms"), and will get a little edit from me in a second. However, if the hotel truly is a grande dame like the Hotel Negresco in Nice (and maybe even if it isn't), I think the photo should stay.

The Gaultier shop window is probably fine, too, because it captures some of the character of the city.

However, I think that the place setting at La Palme d'Or - Michelin stars aside - is nothing special as an image, and that the Hotel Martinez, where the restaurant is, has already received enough publicity in this article, so I would suggest deleting it.

I look forward to hearing your views. (WT-en) Ikan Kekek 17:11, 14 June 2012 (EDT)

What needs to be done before a dotm nomination?

[edit]

I've been looking through Category:Guide articles, and this one popped out to me as a Guide article for a town that has a seasonal importance, both for the Film Festival and the summer season, and which hasn't been featured. Right now, I'm too tired to look through the article with a fine-toothed comb. Is it lacking in any respect, or should we nominate it now? Do any listings need updating? Price categories, POIs, preferably more places to eat and some Buy listings. There are some zip codes in addresses and several external links that are in the old format.
Cannes should definitely be featured in May, when the film festival takes place. That'd be May (or perhaps April) 2016, and personally I try to only nominate articles that have some chance of being featured within one year. ϒpsilon (talk) 21:09, 26 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
