2018 Olympics

[edit]

This page is intended to help inform travelers for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, in Gangwon region in South Korea.

Any information not specific to the Olympic event should be placed in those articles instead.

Additionally, this event is over 4 years away and I think the information around infrastructure and facilities will change a great deal by then. Therefore I have not copied the standard Pyeongchang information for now. --Andrewssi2 (talk) 04:13, 18 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Showcasing this article on the Main Page

[edit]

Compared to the articles of recent Olympic Games (both summer and winter), this one is IMHO (while not perfect, but) in a decent shape. Should we link to it from the Main Page in some way? --ϒpsilon (talk) 20:12, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Now that it's on the Main Page, there would be reason to keep it there if we had information on the Paralympics. Is anyone able to add this? Ground Zero (talk) 02:35, 14 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Countdown Timer

[edit]

The timer is now saying "Has concluded", when the games are still in progress. I could not see how to fix this - is the timer only intended for brief events rather than games which last a fortnight? AlasdairW (talk) 18:41, 11 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

How about simply deleting the timer as no longer needed? Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:37, 11 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
The problem here is with Template:Day Countdown, which can only count down to a single day, and not display a different string while the event is happening. Perhaps this is worth adding in the future. For now, I've temporarily fixed the issue by adding |over_day_text = Ongoing to the template. This does nothing more than simply change the text the template outputs when it 'thinks' the event has ended. This line should be removed again when the Games have ended.
