Automatically creating maps from freely available data sources has turned out to be a pretty huge challenge. Basic investigation have been done by Hansm, but there is still a lot of work to do. Besides the below docu, there is a lot of undocumented knowledge in the development corner somewhere on the server's hard disk.
Everybody interested in joining the project is welcome. Mathematical (advanced vector calculation, optimsation) and programming (scripting, C/C++, database handling) skills are appreciated. If you are interested, let me know on my de:talk page -- Hansm 15:46, 2 June 2007 (CEST)
